Similarities and differences between ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001

The biggest difference between the three standards implemented by ISO is that their objects are different:

· The organization establishes the quality management system according to ISO 9001 standard, and its object is customers.

· The environmental management system established by the organization in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard is aimed at society and related parties.

The occupational safety and health management system established by the organization in accordance with the OHSAS 18001 standard is aimed at employees.

ISO implements three standards in common:

The general policy and objectives of the organization's implementation management are the same.

The three standards use a common process pattern structure, which is similar in structure for ease of use.

The principle of the system is the PDCA (plan-do-check-improvement) cycle.

All need a cultured management system.

·It is clear that there must be a documented division of responsibilities.

All proposed to achieve continuous improvement through system operation.

All have made commitments to comply with regulations and other requirements.

All proposed to use internal audit and management review to evaluate the effectiveness, suitability and compliance of system operation.

All require management review of non-conformities and enhanced training and education.

Both require the top management of the organization to appoint management representatives who are responsible for establishing, maintaining and implementing the management system.

ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 framework integration

In China, organizations integrate various management systems. Quality, environment, and occupational health and safety management systems are ISO standards that use high-level structures to facilitate the integration of systems. Table 2 correspondingly merges the frameworks of the three systems for reference.

5 steps for organizations to stay healthy and safe:

Here are five steps organizations can take to keep their workers healthy and safe at work:

The first step is to identify all processes and activities in the workplace;

The second step, with the help of the staff, is to check whether there are major hazards that may cause injury in certain activities. For example, be aware of some hazardous situations/processes, including work at heights, machinery, electrical equipment, chemicals, construction activities, and farm work, etc.

The third step is to reduce the risk of serious injury (accidents or long-term illness) by eliminating hazards, changing work processes, protecting workers, etc. For example: long-term exposure to heavy objects, radiation, noise, vibration, visual displays, chemicals, etc.

The fourth step is to verify that the measures taken to protect workers are functioning properly and that these regulations are being followed.

The fifth step is to improve by finding ways to do it better and safer.
